Dark and mysterious sea-girt cave,
Echoing loud to the crashing wave,
What do you hide in your farthest deeps
Beyond the sand where the young seal sleeps?
What are the treasures you guard so well
Safe and secure from the wild sea swell?
Would you keep them hidden, that they
Through endless time might in secret stay,
Making a small and enchanted place
Far, and remote as the outer space,
Calm and unspoilt by the hand of man,
Holding untouched the eternal plan.
